This is the Black Pearl, just Pearl to her friends. At some time in her life she had calm seas and a safe harbor. Unfortunately, her former shipmates have abandoned her and now she is looking for a new port to call home. We named her after the pirate ship The Black Pearl because of her swarthy nature and her hip-boot markings. (Although we're pretty sure she would not be offended by a new name.)
Pearl came to us as a stray so we don't know her history. What we do know is that she is very affectionate, very mischievous and very talkative. She currently has the run of the clinic and does not seem to have any fear or either dogs or other cats. (Not necessarily a good thing in a clinic cat.) We think that she would get used to (and maybe one day love) other pets but it would take the right pets and the right family. Because of her mischievousness, she would be best in a "cat lover" home. She likes to get into things and explore her surroundings.
We have tested her for FeLV/FIV and found her negative. We have given her all of her vaccines including rabies. She does seem to have some asthmatic symptoms so we do not recommend a home with smokers. She was also spayed at some point.
