Riley's Angels...
As a veterinarian and pet owner, it is always difficult to say goodbye to the
patients we've lost. Some of those patients, we have known for years and
have spent countless hours and efforts striving to battle chronic illness,
and some patients, we've only known for minutes, but wish we could have
known them a lifetime. It is often a struggle to balance what’s right for the
client while maintaining the wishes and best interests of our voiceless
friends. One thing is for certain, if the love exhibited by the clients, doctors,
and staff at Roanoke Animal Hospital was enough to overcome disease,
pain, and suffering, we would have a world full of well pets. This page is
dedicated to our fur friends, loved and lost. May their memories remain in
our hearts and minds fur-ever!

I don't know where to start, to thank you all so very much for the loving
care you gave to Latigo for the past 9 years. It does not seem that long,
but he was only about 4 when we moved here in April 2000.
I don't know who selected the card you all sent me, but it was perfect and it
came at just the right time.
It's only been a week today and the pain still lingers....as long as I stay
busy it's bearable. I will be by to see you all soon, but not right now...it
would just be too emotional....

of your busy schedules to come and help Chloe. Don’t worry about how
she acted and me having that memory – it’s actually making me smile
already because she was who she was to the end. I’d hoped she could
relax but suppose I knew her better than that. Your caring and kindness
helped us and I appreciate how gentle & patient you were helping end
Chloe’s pain. I don’t know what she suffered her first two years of life that
made her so angry, but I’m glad she came to us and learned to wag her tail
and play….on her terms :0)
Your spirit is kind & loving and I admire your ability to help ease sadness.
Take care.
Hugs,
Karen, Jim, Big Boy & Xena too!

Thanks so much to our lovely lady staff who loved and cared for our
Sydney, cleaned up after her and gave her shots. (You know who your
are.) We love you!
Thank you, Dr. Shepherd for your gift to Sydney, and bless you for the gift
God gave you of being "Dr. Dave" to His animal critters.
We'll be forever grateful for Roanoke Animal Hospital.

We cannot begin to express enough our gratitude for the kindness you
have shown us. Facing the end of Matt's time was a very difficult
experience, but what you gave us made it easier. The time Dr. Shepherd
spent helping us understand, and the compassion of Dr. Sackman,
Christy, Adria and Shayne, were greatly appreciated. We are so grateful
you were there with us.
Thank you for your very thoughtful card and Matt's star; he truly was our
"shining star" for 17 years.

We'd like to express our heartfelt thanks for all you've done for Opus over
the past 13 years. Opus loved you all so much and surely no dog ever
enjoyed visiting the vet as much as Opus enjoyed visiting you! He had a
wonderful life and you kept him going with his tail wagging for many years
longer than anyone would have thought those hips could go.
This past weekend you gave us and Opus your love, support,
encouragement and understanding when we all needed it the most.
Tracey, we are so grateful to you for helping Opus to come home and
pass peacefully in the surroundings he loved. You are a very special

Michael and I just want to let you and your staff know how much we
appreciate all you have done for him over the years. When Wrigley would
come to see Dr. Shepherd he would get so excited and was very rowdy
upon his arrival-most times taking over your lobby! But you all were so
sweet and kind to him at each visit. Our hearts are broken now that he has
left us, but we both want to let you all know how much we appreciated you
over the years.
I have attached his picture for the Angel page.
Thanks again,
Michael and Angela Spiewak

We would like to express our thanks to the doctors and staff for the
kindness and love shown our dog Nacho over his 10+ years in Texas. We
always knew he was in good hands whether in for treatment, boarding or
grooming. His loss this past Sunday has left a hole in our hearts and really
is the end of an era. We brought him home from the pound when our
children were 5 and 3 and they stood by his side at the end of his life
young adults at 18 and 15. He really helped raise them, teaching
responsibility and selflessness while always giving unconditional love. We
were blessed to have him. Special thanks to Dr. Noel for her
understanding over the last few weeks.
